Hello, I am searching for information on my fathers, mothers side of my family. I Don't know alot, this site has helped me figure out alot. Mostly what I have been told is that we are related to Gideon Shryock, my grandmothers name is Ruth Shryock and she married Leslie S. Cairel. I believe they were married in Versailles, KY.
She also has 4 sisters, 3 of whom I know are still living. Elva Shryock Butts, Lucy(married name unsure of), Brooks(again married name unsure of) and also Viola "Toots" Shryock who has passed away(not sure when?)
I know only that their mother passed away when Ruth was young(possibly around 3 yrs of age and she was the 2nd youngest) and that they grew up in an "orphans home" as my father says.
If anyone has any information that would be very helpful to me, even if it was just which of the many Kentucky Shryocks they are decended from. This site has been so helpful, but I am quite stuck figuring out their exact lineage.

Thanks in advance!

Crystal,

Welcome to the site. I really don't have much information but maybe one thing can lead to another. Take a look at this:
http://www.kykinfolk.com/woodfor
d/2Cemeteries/versailles_cemeter
yC-F.htm
The second entry looks like it may be something of interest.

Maybe someone else will have more information. Good luck in your search.

Bill

Hi Bill,
Yes, I have that picture actually. That is my grandfathers gravesite, my grandmother is still alive, but she doesn't really talk about him or our family. What I do know I have gathered from talking with my dad,(the first listing was apparently my grandfathers half brother, or so I'm told) but he doesn't know much about HER side of the family and her maiden name was Shryock. I'll keep looking and if anyone finds anything, please send it my way and I'll look into it!
Thanks so much!
Crystal
